Great Product, Really shines with an iPhone, February 25, 2011

My car has a 12V receptacle and an AUX input inside the center console. I have an iPhone 3GS and had been using a 1st gen iPod Touch to play music through the AUX input. I wanted to consolidate devices, by using my phone to play music, and also be able to make phone calls 'nearly' hands-free. All while using A2DP (over bluetooth). I like to imagine that this is one of Steve Job's strong points.

In researching solutions, there weren't many. Parrot devices were expensive, and would require a separate visor mounted box. Most devices also connected through FM transmitters. There were only two options which answered my specific pain point.

Enter the Aircast Auto. The device was at a mild price point, and seemed to have all the functionality I required. The product was extremely intuitive to set up. I was able to have music playing through Bluetooth in minutes. Will the A2DP protocol provide good quality music? YES! The sound is nearly as crisp as a CD (The 6.1 Standard harmon-kardon speakers in my car probably helped too).

The quality of outbound calls is around a 5 out of 10 I've been told. The calls sound clear in the car. There may be some tweaking of volume controls to increase quality. However, the calls are audible and most important legal (as the city I commute to has adopted hand-free laws).

While this device can make calls and play music for any other bluetooth device, the feature set really shines on the iPhone. Voice Command Control, A2DP quality sound, and control from the microphone unit really make the unit appealing for iPhone users.

At a moderate price point, and with the extensive feature-set, this device is perfect for my specific niche. I'd give it a 4.75/5.00. Well done Belkin!

This is one of the easiest blue-tooth gadgets to use, and one of the handiest. Unlike most other hands-free add-ons, this one does NOT use an FM transmitter to broadcast over your car stereo- it uses a 2.5mm jack (mini-headphone size - same as an iPod.) This of course means that your receiver has to have an available jack to plug into. Assuming your vehicle is so equipped, then this is probably the best hands-free add on you could find. One large button controls it all (It also houses the microphone.) There's a plate that gets stuck to your dash - the dash side is foam adhesive tape, the other grabs the button with a magnet.

At one end of the cable is that button/mic combination - this attaches to the dash. At the other end is a standard cigarette lighter style plug. Stick this in the auto's outlet (I guess they are no longer called lighters.) This end also has the plug that sticks into your sound system's aux jack. That's it. Since it's blue-tooth, your phone can be in your pocket, on the seat, where-ever. You can play music via your phone (I use my Droid X) and answer/make calls.

Since the button attaches via a magnet, you can remove the Aircast and store it in the glove compartment when not in use.

One handy feature is the built-in USB charging port. This is located on the end of the outlet. So while it's plugged in it powers the Aircast, but can also power and charge your USB device (phone, etc.) Also included is an extension cable for the stereo jack.

This device is really close to being a great product. The small adapter with a USB port is great, and the single button/mic operation is a clean and attractive design. This works for playing music from your phone via a bluetooth connection without any wired connections, and it works as a handsfree device as a relatively cheap option to factory-installed bluetooth in your car. The main reason I bought this was to act as a handsfree bluetooth device so I could talk/listen on my phone through my car speakers when a call came in. Sound quality is acceptable, echo cancellation works, but there does not seem to be any other noise suppression. So, if you are driving on a highway, placement of the microphone/button is critical.

The first major shortfall is that it does not autoconnect-- you need to press the button so your phone connects. That means I need to press the button every time I start my car. That may not seem like a big deal, but autoconnect on bluetooth headsets has been around for many years and should be standard on this device. Because it does not autoconnect, I rarely remember to hit the button when I get in the car. Whenever a call comes in, I can't answer since I forgot to manually connect my phone. Also, every time I press the button to connect, it starts playing music on my iPhone, that isn't a big deal, but it is worth noting.

The 2nd major shortfall is that it can only pair with one phone. If my wife ever wants to drive my car, she won't be able to use the bluetooth handsfree from her phone. Again, this is another standard feature with current bluetooth headsets and should be standard on this device.

I'll bet that they fix these two problems on V2, and that may make it a perfect device.

One other note for people who are thinking about buying this-- if your cigarette lighter does not turn off when you turn off your car, you will constantly have to unplug it so it does not drain your battery. My lighter turns off, so I don't have that problem.

A hassle to install, December 22, 2011

Buying this off the shelf, I totally missed the fine print about "applicator spray" until the package was already open. Installation was wet, sticky and tedious (pushing out all the bubbles took half an hour), and at the end, my screen was a cloudy, bubbly mess. As advised, I left the tablet off overnight, and in the morning, the screen was clear, with only a few tiny bubbles. I was relatively happy with it, but after a month, one corner peeled up. I've now replaced it with the RealLook protector, which took exactly 3 minutes and looks beautiful.

I bought a non Zagg shield for my Galaxy 10.1 hoping to save some money. It was horrible! I finally decided to spend the money for the Zagg and I'm glad I did. The clolth cleans the screen well and makes it look brand new! Definitely worth spending the extra money!

Let me just say that I was really excited to get this TV. So excited that I simply forgot to check the pixel response time before I went to purchase it. When I hooked my PS3 up to this TV via HDMI, I noticed horrible ghosting. This is not a fast display. If you're going to be doing any type of gaming on this display, I would go with something else. Then, after I saw how bad the ghosting and overdrive was, I immediately went online to try to find out what the response time was and what do you know... there's no response time listed for this model on ANY website. Even the websites that list response time put "N/A" in that section. Do yourself a favor and make sure you know the response time of your TV before you buy it. If it doesn't list a response time, you're probably in for trouble.

I also purchased the new 32" LN32C530 and that screen also had the same horrible ghosting... again, no response time listed anywhere that I could find.

In conclusion, I was not happy with the performance of this monitor. If you want to go ahead and order it anyway, that's your call, but I'm just putting the warning out that if you don't like ghosting or overdrive, do not buy this. You'll be disappointed. Note: I also saw a lot of ghosting in movies too.

I was a little worried about ordering this TV because it was a brand new model (March 2010) and the only review that I could find was a negative one. The tv just arrived today. I was quite pleased with the tv. The picture is vivid and the sound is excellent for such a thin tv. I purchased the tv for my home office and upgraded from an older 23" Samsung tv which actually took up more space due to its side mounted speakers. If you are looking for a 26" tv, I feel that it was worth the extra $$$ to get this LED model. This was my first LED tv. The picture is great and it only uses 40 watts of electricity. My old 23" Samsung used 100 watts. I hooked up the coaxial cable wire to the tv directly and it found all of the analog and digital channels within a few minutes on auto mode. I also hooked up my PS3 via HDMI and it worked right away (The other reviewer wrote about his HDMI cable not producing sound.- Possibly he was using a defective HDMI cable or he had an audio output setting set incorrectly on the device that was connected to the tv...... because the HDMI output works fine on this tv). The only negative is that the tv display is 720p/1080i. The tv does not have 1080p but in all honesty on a tv less than 40" you really don't need 1080p. Final verdict- Pricey but worth it.... if this is the size you're looking for. I only wish that I had room for the 32" model. Don't just take my word for it....the tv keeps selling out on Amazon as soon as it comes back in stock.

I have been using the Apple Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard for a while now. While I like it, I wanted to try the Logitech alternative. I'm happy to report that the experience has been completely positive for me, and that the Logitech has replaced my Apple keyboard in my travel bag.

The first benefit is that the keys feel more "solid" on the Logitech. It could be because the whole keyboard is a tiny bit thicker, or it might be the material they use for the keys, but to me the Logitech has better play with the keys than the Apple version. I type better with it. The keys are slightly smaller than the Apple keyboard, but they also have a little more space between them, making my style of typing a lot more accurate with my large fingers.

The Logitech keyboard has one less row of keys, thanks to the inclusion of the Function key. That means it's not as "tall" as the Apple, but it is, unfortunately, a little wider than then Apple. This means that with my Targus netbook bag it's a tight fit. It does fit, but it's definitely pressing the sides out a bit.

What really sells me on this keyboard is the power switch to clearly and obviously turn it off, thus keeping batteries well-charged and not triggering functions on the iPad when the keyboard gets bumped. With the Apple keyboard, it shuts off automatically but wakes up when keys are tapped. This meant I had to turn off Bluetooth in my iPad when not using the keyboard; An extra step I can choose to skip now, with the Logitech.

Another big selling point is the case/stand that comes with this keyboard. While my Smart Cover works fine for landscape, it doesn't allow portrait orientation with any sort of slant. The Logitech keyboard cover converts into a sturdy stand that lets me switch to a landscape orientation. This is very handy for editing documents!

Of course, the Bluetooth connection is easy to establish, and the keyboard never misses a stroke. I"m very pleased with the way it functions.

If you're in the market for a Bluetooth keyboard to use with your iPad, and are trying to decide between Apple and Logitech, I would say it comes down to your personal preference. They both have great features and offer quality. However, I think the Logitech has the advantage in feel, extra features, and user-friendliness.

For the price, you can't go wrong.

First, I'm not going to ding this much for being large because you're just not going to get a full size keyboard that's small compared to the iPad itself. I like the feel of the keys given the slim form factor. And the stand is quite clever.

Good things:
- Very nice to type on - not quite as nice as a full height KB, but good tradeoff for thin.
- Uses 4 AAA batteries - I prefer this to worrying about yet another charger. Logitech claims these will last ten months of normal use.
- Paired easily with the iPad.
- Also paired easily with the XOOM (Android device)!
- Works in browsers, where it can be very useful.
- Clever case turns into a stand that can hold the tablet in portrait or landscape mode (normal iPad cases, including Apple's, only do landscape, which can be frustrating when you want to read mags or comics).
- Turns off to save batteries.
- Very nice in apps such as Notepad to have shift-arrow (to select text) and cmd-x (cut) cmd-v (paste) and cmd-c (copy) working.
- Has a Home key where Esc would be that acts like the iPad (or Android) home key. Can even turn it on when it's sleeping. Also a dedicated search key.
- Has Fn keys for media control, volume control, lock.
- Has dedicated (though small) arrow keys in a WASD configuration.

Bad things:
- It's a bit longer than the iPad - I think it's worth it to get a full size keyboard, but it is.
- Power switch is tiny, easy to forget to turn it off. Not a catastrophe, but wastes some power.
- I wasn't able to get the Ctrl key to do anything useful in apps like iSSH or ConnectBot on either iOS or Android. This is bad if, like me, your remote apps need control keys. Expect to do some termcap remapping.
- Occasionally it doesn't want to re-connect - then you need to tell your tablet to unpair and repair.

Hints:
- You can use the stand in portrait (tablet tall instead of wide) mode! It took me a while to realize this since I'm not used to cases allowing it.
- The connect button is a tiny thing under the keyboard in the upper right. Use it to pair with a new device or...
- If the keyboard doesn't want to re-connect, holding the connect button while trying to do so seems to help.
- fn-6=show/hide on-screen keyboard.

The bottom line - normally a keypad on a tablet is ridiculous (just get a laptop), but if you love your tablet and have the occasional need for a keyboard, you could do worse, and this works with more than just the iPad.
